Can you answer the question “Are you satisfied with your life?” with a “yes, definitely”? This turns out to be true for a little less than half of early 21st century Americans. What leads someone to be more likely to answer yes to this question? Is this explained by other life outcomes such as income, education or health? Or is it tied to your personal characteristics, e.g., age, gender and ethnicity? Does your place of location matter? Does who live in your neighborhood matter? On this website we set out to explore these questions using very large samples of survey respondents. This is an example of “Big Data Psychology”.
